The ballet dancing originated in Italy during the period of renaissance in the 15th century and later spread across France, Russia and England. This form of dancing is generally taught in the ballet schools all across the world. These schools generally teach the dance formats as per their cultures and traditions. In the ballet dancing, there is use of every muscle. In order to master the dance completely, one has to practice many forms and these include modern dance, neoclassical ballet and the expressionist ballet.

The most formal ballet style of dancing is the classical ballet. It follows the traditional ballet methods. There exist some differences in the methods in the area of place of origin. Some of the leading techniques of this form of dance in the world are Danish method, New York City method, royal academy of dance and royal ballet school. The neo classic ballet follows a traditional method but this method is quite tougher than the classic style.
The ballet dancing requires grace, elegance, strength and resilience. One can learn this dance technique at any age. The shoes play important role in the ballet dancing. They wear the pointed shoes and this makes them light and delicate at the time of dancing. At the time of dancing, the dancers wear tights and leotards. For the recital performances, they use titus or the ballet skirts. There are five essential positions in ballet dancing. In the first position, the feet are towards the outward direction.
