Some readers might be thinking it as another ‘just for fun’ lightly written article but it is actually a psychological fact. It is an everyday phenomenon of every normal household. You must have noticed that at many times when you are searching for your tie or any other thing, you call your wife no matter what she is busy with because you are not able to find it. In most cases wives find the things in few seconds and from the same place where you have already searched. Now you cannot blame it on your eyes solely.

Men depend largely on the searching ability of the fairer sex to find things for them. Women can pat their backs for everyday fixing their husbands in getting ready. May be this is one major reason why they say ‘behind every successful man there is a woman’. I would like to cite it as ‘behind every successful man there is a woman searching things for him’. This is true and you will get to know in the following paragraphs some striking facts to support this view. What possibly could be the reason behind it? There is actually a list of reasons according to psychologists.

We are following our ancestors

Psychologists say that it depends on the evolutionary history of humans. Humans have a tendency to inherit some characteristics from their ancestors. No, I am not talking about monkeys here! Well they do but my topic concerns the characteristics inherited from their human ancestors. In early days when humans used to live in forests, they had their tasks assigned according to their sex. While men being physically tougher were supposed to hunt and bring something for dinner, the main task of females was to collect fruits, nuts and other eatables. It is really hard to locate and collect wild fruits in dense forests. This is where women got their special skill of finding things. Even in earlier days farming men used to cut the harvest and women would collect it after them.

Different battle grounds

It is the work place that makes them more acquainted to things. The early man used to roam in jungles to hunt and do farming in later ages. On the other hand women were supposed to be home and take care of the children and prepare food for the family. So apparently females spent more time at home than males, making them well acquainted with every nook and corner of the house.

This has been confirmed with tests. In a test psychologists made two separate groups of males and females. They were made to sit in a room for some time where none of them had been before. They were asked some questions separately when they came out. The questions were related to objects which were present in the room. In a striking finding most males were not able to recall what articles were there in the room. On the other hand almost every female was able to recall everything in minute details. Now, most people would say that today’s women spend almost the same time at home as men do. I agree but the topic of their discussions, due to their upbringing and expected behavior concern more of house life then outer world. Even today curtains, flowerpots and antiques appeal more to them than to guys.

Stronger sex

According to biological evidences it has been female who selects to mate with a particular male. Males on the other hand have always been ‘not so choosy’ in search for their partners. It is very interesting to note that all the male honey bees have to compete with each other to have sex with the only female in the hive. Most of the male bees die in their bid to copulate with the female bee. Poor males, they still are not choosy and skilled enough in finding things. It is also seen in dogs and in many other animals.

It is always a female that finds and chooses a male to mate with. This has somewhere deeply engraved in the fairer sex to find and select while males contend them with whatever comes in their way. There is famous thing about a girl getting married in western countries. Many writers have written about the phenomenon of every girl having a change of heart. Every girl on the wedding day thinks whether her choice of life partner was good or not. So the find, choose and select action has always been more important for female than males.

Medium of showing affection

Both sexes have their own way to show affection. Right from old ages men want their wives to take care of them while getting ready as a token of affection. Even old age kings and warriors used to take the help of their wives to get ready before going out for war. According to psychologists men love to be taken care of by women and women from ages have been showing their love by helping their husbands get ready. You must have never thought it this way, but believe me humans show their affection in different and many times not so visible ways. Do you expect your wife to find stuff for you when you had a fight the last night? Even if she does, you must have not seen that love and affection in her eyes.

Psychology changes the way we look at the world around us. It was yesterday that I read this article in a psychology book and have started to look things from a new angle. Psychologists suggest that there is a reason behind every expression you or the people make. It is upon your mental ability that how successful you are in finding hidden meanings behind every small gesture. So never forget to thank your wife when she searches your tie for you. This actually is a token of love and deliverance of duty in a way our ancestors have taught us.
